Q. find genealogy information

What type of research information do you have regarding genealogy?

Answer

There are various print resources dealing with genealogy at all three library branches. These include general how-to guides to conducting genealogical research, as well as specific resources relating to local history like census and burial records. The Leonardtown Library houses the St. Mary’s County Genealogical Society Collection, which includes family histories, marriage and death records, and more. The Lexington Park Library has two local newspapers, The Enterprise (1952-present) and The Beacon (1852-1984, with some gaps) available on microfilm. The Beacon (1923-1984, with gaps) and The Enterprise (1952-3 months ago) is also online at stmalib.archivalweb.com.

More information about local history and genealogy resources can be found on our Local History webpage.

The library also has a library subscription to Ancestry.com that is available for use inside the library branches. Heritage Quest Online is available to library users from any Internet connected device. Start on our Online Resources page for both of these services.
